ISTE (formerly NECC), a non-profit organization, has been the leader in technology education leadership for over 30 years. They provide leadership on a variety of topics related to technology education along with globally recognized technology standards for students and educators. I have been a member of ISTE for many years, and attended their annual conference in June, and have found ISTE to be the most beneficial organization in my tech ed career. Below is the description provided by ISTE for the Digital Leadership Summit, held in Arizona, January 17-19, 2020.
“This event brings district leaders from across the country together to discuss how we can best prepare K-12 students for the worlds of work and technology. Here you’ll use leading-edge design models and lessons from industry leaders to create a visionary path for using technology to support learning.
We’ll dive into the ISTE Standards for Education Leaders – a framework that can guide district transformation – and we’ll discuss ways to streamline the tech procurement process.
During the two-day, hands-on event exclusively for leaders, you’ll also:
- Get state-of-the-art updates on leading research into what works for supporting learning with technology.
- Learn from case studies from state, district, and school leaders leveraging the power of technology for systemic change.
- Network with leaders at the state, national and local levels who are focused on leveraging technology to support learning.
- Get executive access to ISTE’s pivotal programs, including ISTE U, ISTE Certification, Edtech Advisor and ISTE district wrap-around support.
Whether you’re taking your first step, ready to correct a misstep, or are somewhere in between, make the ISTE Digital Leadership Summit your next step.”
